New Rates of National Minimum Wage

A brief reminder of forthcoming increases to the National Minimum Wage and other employment rates

 From 1 April 2025, the National Minimum Wage increases as follows:

Rates 2024 2025

National Living Wage (age 21+) £11.44 £12.21

Development rate (age 18-20) £8.60 £10.00

Young workers rate (age 16-17) £6.40 £7.55

Apprentice rate £6.40 £7.55

The large increase in the development rate is to work towards the Government’s intention of a single rate for all adults.

From 6 April 2025, the weekly rate of statutory maternity, paternity and adoption pay will increase to £187.18.

From 6 April 2025, statutory sick pay will increase to £188.75 per week and the cap on one week’s pay for calculating statutory redundancy payments will increase to £719.
