The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) have published a great summary of the key elements of the Consumer Rights Act 2015. It is not meant be a comprehensive guide to the new Act, but it is a very good general overview, focusing on the most common issues.

The summary can be downloaded and edited in Word format so that businesses can tailor the wording to their own business, in order to assist their staff and customers. The guidance also covers the new law that requires businesses to provide certain information about Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR) to consumers.

BIS has also published a checklist for the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to help businesses to be sure they are ready for 1 October.

Even if your business doesn’t sell to individual consumers, the guidance is quite useful to understand your rights when you are buying goods and services as a consumer.
